Nothing is more frustrating than turning on your computer only to find that your operating system won’t load. Whether you’re stuck on a black screen, seeing an error message, or facing an endless reboot loop, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to fix the issue.
1. Check for Power and Hardware Issues
- Ensure the computer is turning on (fans spinning, lights blinking).
- Reseat RAM, storage drive, and check all cable connections.
- Try booting with only essential peripherals (disconnect USB devices).
2. Identify the Boot Error
- Do you see a black screen with a blinking cursor?
- Is there an error message like “No Bootable Device” or “Operating System Not Found”?
- Are you stuck in a boot loop or on the manufacturer’s logo?
3. Access Safe Mode (Windows Only)
- Restart the computer and press F8 (older versions) or Shift + F8.
- If Windows Recovery loads, select Safe Mode to troubleshoot from there.
4. Use Automatic Repair (Windows/macOS)
- For Windows: Boot into Advanced Startup Options (Shift + Restart) and try Startup Repair.
- For macOS: Boot into macOS Recovery (Cmd + R) and use Disk Utility to repair the disk.
5. Check the Boot Order in BIOS
- Restart the computer and press F2, F12, Del, or Esc to enter BIOS.
- Ensure the correct drive is set as the first boot device.
6. Restore or Reinstall the OS
- If all else fails, consider restoring the system using System Restore (Windows) or Time Machine (macOS).
- If necessary, reinstall the OS using a bootable USB or recovery partition.
7. Seek Professional Help (WARRANTY CLAIM ONLY)
